OverlayMotion licensing
Open-source foundations stay permissive. Premium source can power unlimited commercial work, but cannot be redistributed as reusable template code.
Core · MIT
Use, modify, redistribute, sublicense, or sell the Core and materials included in the official open-source distribution, with the copyright and license notice preserved.
Premium · Commercial
Unlimited projects and renders. Modify freely and own your outputs. Do not resell, publish, or redistribute premium source or include it in a competing template pack.

Full commercial license
Version 1.0 — August 13, 2026
This license covers OverlayMotion premium templates and other paid source-code materials (the Premium Materials). It is designed to let you use and adapt them freely in real projects while protecting the source from redistribution.
OverlayMotion Core and materials included in the official open-source distribution are not covered by this license. They are available under the MIT License in the open-source Core license shown above.
1. Who receives this license
The Purchaser is the person or legal entity named in a valid OverlayMotion purchase. After full payment, the Purchaser receives a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to the Premium Materials, subject to these terms. This license may not be transferred to another person or entity without prior written permission from OverlayMotion.
2. What the Purchaser may do
The Purchaser may:
- use the Premium Materials in unlimited personal, internal, client, and commercial projects;
- create and distribute unlimited rendered videos, images, audio, and other media outputs (the Outputs);
- modify, combine, and adapt the Premium Materials for those projects;
- sell, monetize, publish, broadcast, and sublicense the Outputs; and
- allow employees and contractors to access the Premium Materials solely to work for the Purchaser, provided they are bound to keep the source confidential.
No royalty is owed to OverlayMotion for an Output. As between OverlayMotion and the Purchaser, the Purchaser owns the Output. The Purchaser remains responsible for rights to its own footage, music, fonts, trademarks, data, and other third-party material used in an Output.
The Purchaser may operate a website, application, or rendering service that uses the Premium Materials, including for its customers, as long as customers cannot download, extract, or otherwise access the Premium Materials as reusable source code.
3. What the Purchaser may not do
The Purchaser may not:
- sell, resell, sublicense, share, publish, open-source, or otherwise redistribute the Premium Materials as source code, whether original, modified, compiled into an extractable form, or included in a larger source repository;
- give a client or other third party the Premium Materials or modified source; each party that needs the source must obtain its own license;
- include the Premium Materials in a template pack, theme pack, starter kit, component library, marketplace item, or competing product whose primary value includes reusable motion-template source code;
- share a license key, private download link, account, or other access method outside the Purchaser's organization; or
- remove or obscure copyright, license, or third-party notices from the Premium Materials.
These restrictions apply to modified and derivative versions too. Changing a template does not make its source redistributable.
4. Remotion is licensed separately
The Premium Materials are built for use with Remotion. Remotion is third-party software and is not licensed by this purchase. The Purchaser must independently comply with the current Remotion license:
https://www.remotion.dev/license
As of the date of this license, Remotion permits free commercial use by individuals and for-profit organizations with up to three employees. A for-profit organization outside that eligibility, including one with four or more employees, must obtain the appropriate Remotion Company License. Remotion may change its terms; its current terms always control use of Remotion.
The following notice must remain in every Premium Material source file and in modified copies:
Built with Remotion — https://www.remotion.dev/license
Buying OverlayMotion Premium Materials does not include, replace, or waive any license required by Remotion.
5. Updates and support
This license applies to every version of the Premium Materials that the Purchaser validly receives. It does not promise future updates, new templates, support, or compatibility unless the applicable purchase offer says otherwise.
6. Termination
This license ends automatically if the Purchaser materially breaches these terms. Except for deliberate or public source redistribution, the license is restored if the breach is fully cured within 30 days after written notice. After termination, the Purchaser must stop using and delete all copies of the Premium Materials. Outputs created before termination may continue to be used and distributed.
7. No warranty and limited liability
The Premium Materials are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ricardo Metring and OverlayMotion will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities arising from the Premium Materials. Total liability for any claim relating to the Premium Materials will not exceed the amount the Purchaser paid for them.
8. General terms
If any part of this license is unenforceable, the remaining terms stay in effect. A written order form or separate agreement signed by OverlayMotion may change these terms for that purchase; otherwise, this license is the complete license grant for the Premium Materials.
